20th anniversary of UL-Kyutech international cooperation leads to a stronger partnership for the next decade

Université de Lorraine (France) and Kyutech held the 20th Anniversary of International Cooperation Celebration Event during June 8th-9th 2023 at Kyutech Tobata Campus. The delegation of 10 people headed by Dr. Hélène Boulanger, President of UL, Prof. Didier MARTY-DESSUS of the Ambassade de France au Japon (Counselor of Science and Technology), joint alumni who obtained degrees from Kyutech and UL, international students from the University of Lorraine, Kyutech staff and students, and Kitakyushu Convention and Visitors Association gathered all together to celebrate this commemorative moment.

The joint research workshop on Day-1 (June 8th) brought about five groups of international joint research teams, and the IRO staff workshop provided with fruitful discussion on how to jointly promote the internationalization training of administrative staff of both universities.

At the 20th anniversary celebration ceremony on the Day-2 (June 9th), “International Cooperation History and New Strategic Partnership for the Next Decade” was presented, the commemorative plaque was signed, and the call for proposal for new Kyutech-UL international joint project was announced.

Two international students from the University of Lorraine made presentations to share their experiences in Japan and their current studies at Kyutech. Three joint alumni who have obtained two degrees from Kyutech and UL under the Double Degree Programme also made their presentations on their experiences and their careers after graduation.

The cooperation meeting co-chaired by both presidents discussed the new strategy and collaborative activities to foster joint research, joint education program, and joint training for staff internationalization. It is concluded that the partnership of UL and Kyutech would also serve for Japan-France friendship and also for multi-national partnership for the future.
