From January 17 to 26, 2019, 4 students and 1 faculty member of Kyutech’s Department of Mechanical Information Science and Technology participated in a mechanical informatics workshop and carried out a collaborative work at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, which is one of Kyutech’s partner universities in the United States.
Kyutech and Clarkson have conducted collaborative and exchange programs since 2011. This year’s workshop was organized under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Takahiro Ito of Kyutech, who has been building the relationship between both universities.
The 4 students worked with Clarkson members to construct autopilot actuators based on information from optical sensors. And they also had a chance to visit one of the labs of SPEED (Clarkson’s Student Projects for Engineering Experience & Design) team. During the stay, Kyutech students experienced and enjoyed the campus life at an US university.
Besides, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panart Khajornrungruang, who accompanied the students, visited the laboratory of Clarkson’s Distinguished University Professor Dr. Babu Suryadevara for the collaborative research in applied optics in nanoscale observation.
On the last day, Mr. Jaffrey Taylor, Clarkson’s Vice President of Student Affairs, guided Kyutech group to The Tech Garden in Syracuse, which is an organization that supports entrepreneurs creating innovation ecosystems throughout the central region of New York State.
In the middle of March 2019, five members from Clarkson will visit Kyutech and participate in the 12th International Micro Mechanism Contest in Tokyo, which is organized by the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE).
