"PPT Demonstration Satellite AOBA-Verox III" completion ceremony

Update:2016.12.27

On 2 November 2016, Kyutech invited members of the news media to a press conference here on the Tobata Campus of Kyushu Institute of Technology. The flight model of AOBA-Velox III was unveiled. This satellite seeks to verify the performance of PPT (Pulsed Plasma Thruster) propulsion device in space. Remarkably, this satellite was built by undergrad students as part of a special Kyutech program to involve them in satellite projects. At Kyutech, this is the first time undergrads undertook this kind of challenge. About 50 students in total are engaged in this project. It started in June of 2014. This satellite is built in the 2U configuration, which is roughly 10cm x 10cm x 20cm. It weighs 2.3 kg. The project is jointly conducted by Kyutech and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore.

It is scheduled to be released from the International Space Station. On 7 November, it is set to be delivered to JAXA. On 9 December, it is set to be launched on a JAXA H-2B rocket; shortly after that, the satellite will be at the ISS.
