Four students in Concrete Lab, Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, School of Engineering of Kyutech, had an international collaboration study with the students in Department of Civil Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), under the supervision of Professors Goda of Kyutech and Manote of KMUTNB from September 10 to 16, 2016. The subject was “Design of High Strength Concrete Specimen.” Two teams were asked to make three specimens having the predetermined compressive strength. The students had exchanged ideas through LINE prior to the study at KMUTNB and then they discussed further at KMUTNB to make their specimens.
Not all the students of both schools have good experiences in English communication. In addition, design methods in the two countries are different. They had a hard time especially at the beginning. Nevertheless, by having discussions every day and conducting preliminary tests, they managed to come up with concrete specimens with much confidence. The results were satisfactory and the competition was a close call. It was also quite impressive that the students of the two universities have made good friends through the international collaboration study.
