Through the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) "Sakura Science Program," we conducted international collaborative research exchanges with UPM, USM, and USIM in Malaysia.

Update:2025.02.06

Kyutech was selected for the Sakura Science Program, a publicly funded project by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) (Principal Investigator: Associate Professor Shinya Ikeno, Graduate School of Life Science and Systems Engineering). From January 5 to January 25, 2025, we conducted an international collaborative research exchange under the theme "Development of Functional Molecules for Highly Sensitive Sensors to Detect Water Environmental Pollutants." As part of this program, we invited a total of eight researchers and students from three Malaysian universities to deepen academic collaboration through joint research.

For this exchange, we welcomed two young faculty members from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), one faculty member and two graduate students from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and one faculty member and two graduate students from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). In addition to conducting joint research, the program included research discussions involving cross-cultural exchange, visits to research facilities, a research presentation session, and laboratory tours at the Wakamatsu and Iizuka campuses. Notably, visits to cutting-edge research facilities such as the RIKEN Kobe Campus and SPring-8 provided participants with valuable firsthand exposure to advanced scientific infrastructure.

Through these activities, students and researchers fostered stronger connections, gaining insights into different research environments and cultural perspectives. This exchange proved to be a meaningful opportunity for expanding academic horizons. Building on the achievements of this program, we aim to further strengthen inter-university relationships and promote the advancement of international collaborative research.
