GCL Interactive "Beat Saber" VR Event

Update:2024.07.17

On July 3, 2024, GCL held a VR gaming event hosted by Stefan Holst, an associate professor of Creative Informatics at Kyutech. Mr. Holst introduced students and staff to the game "Beat Saber," which involves slashing music beats as they fly towards you. To start the game, one must first put on the VR headset, which transports them into the virtual world of neon lights and adrenaline-pumping music such as Queen, Fall Out Boy, and various techno artists. Both Japanese and foreign exchange students participated in the event, overcoming the barriers of different languages and cultures to share their love for the same music. With only one VR headset available, only one student at a time could participate in the game, but many students watched and sang along to popular hits such as Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Through this event, it was clear that music has the power to bring together people from different parts of the world with a common interest. We are very grateful to Mr. Holst for giving the students this opportunity and will use it as a reference when planning future events at GCL.
