Delegation from Yangzhou University (China) led by Prof. HAN Jie, Vice President, visited Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) Tobata Campus on March 24, 2024. Yangzhou University is one of Kyutech's major exchange partner universities and has achieved a lot through active joint research and student exchange over the past 17 years.
Prof. Toru Kamiya, Vice President for International Affairs of Kyutech, and Prof. Seiichi Serikawa, Dean of Faculty of Engineering of Kyutech, attended the meeting and expressed their appreciation for the active collaboration.
Vice President HAN Jie introduced Yangzhou University as an important general university in China with high research capabilities, with 12 departments now ranked in the top 1% of ESI and the top 0.1% in Agricultural Sciences, thanks to many years of joint research and student exchange. Prof. Kamiya also emphasized that Yangzhou University is one of the three universities with local offices among Kyutech’s international exchange schools and is an extremely important partner university and expressed his hope for further development of cooperation between the two universities in the future.
On the same day, a signboard installation ceremony for the Kyutech-Yangzhou University Joint Laboratory was also held. The establishment of the Kyutech-Yangzhou University Joint Laboratory was agreed in 2017, and a signboard installation ceremony was held at Yangzhou University in the same year. In 2021, a liaison committee will start managing the joint laboratory, strengthening its function as an overseas hub for Kyutech’s international partner universities and further deepening exchanges. The installation of the signboard was postponed several times due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, but the signboard installation ceremony was held on the occasion of a courtesy visit by the Vice President of Yangzhou University. The signboard will be installed at Kyutech.
In addition, the two vice presidents exchanged commemorative gifts and exchanged opinions for the coming year, and further collaboration is expected in the future.
