Qualifications to apply
1. Has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional degree, or their
equivalent from an educational institution outside of Japan by March 2025. *A professional
degree is stipulated in Clause 5-2 of Degree Regulations (Ordinance No. 9 of the Ministry of
Education of Japan issued in 1953), in accordance with the 1st clause of Article 104 of the
School Education Act of Japan. This shall be applied to all the following requirements.
*Applicants applying for October 2024 enrollment must complete a master's degree,
professional degree or their equivalent by September 2024. This shall be applied to all the
following requirements.
2. Has successfully completed or expects to complete a master’s, professional degree program
or the equivalent in Japan through a correspondence course from an educational institution
outside of Japan, and has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional
degree or their equivalent by March 2025.
3. Has successfully completed or expects to complete a master’s, professional degree program
or the equivalent and has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional
degree, or their equivalent by March 2025 at a non-Japanese educational institution in
Japan which is recognized by his or her country, and designated by the Japanese Minister
of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, as having a graduate level program.
4. Has successfully completed a course at United Nations University and received a degree
equivalent to a master’s degree or expects to complete a program and receive such a degree
by the end of March 2025.
5. Has engaged in at least two years of research at a university or a research institute after
receiving a bachelor's degree from a Japanese university, and is recognized by this Institute
as having accredited academic ability equal to or surpassing the level of a master's degree
or professional degree holder based on their research accomplishments.
6. Has engaged in at least two years of research at a university or a research institute after
completing sixteen years of education or the equivalent at an educational institution
outside of Japan*, and is recognized by our Institute as having accredited academic ability
equal to or surpassing the level of a master's degree or professional degree holder based on
their research accomplishments. *This includes completing a program in Japan through a
correspondence course from an educational institution outside of Japan.
7. Has academic ability which has been assessed as equivalent to or surpassing the level of a
master's degree or professional degree holder by individual screening of admission qualifications, and is over 24 years old or will be 24 years old by March 2025.
8. Has obtained a Student Visa (study abroad) as stipulated by the Emigration and
Immigration Management and Refugee Recognition Law of Japan, or can obtain a student
visa in Japan upon the admission to the Japanese Graduate School.
*Note 1. Non-Japanese citizens who have received or expect to receive a master's degree or
professional degree from a Japanese educational institution by March 2025 are not
eligible for this category.

Selection Procedures

Selection of admission students are made through a comprehensive evaluation based on an
interview examination and submitted documents.
Interview Examination
Applicants will be evaluated by an interview based on the submitted Master's Thesis or equivalent research
paper, research plan after being admitted into the Doctoral Course, academic ability in their field, and
Transcripts.
[Second Session]
Selection of admission students are made through a comprehensive evaluation based on an interview examination and the submitted documents.
Regarding interview examination, applicants will be evaluated by an interview based on their submitted Master's Thesis or equivalent research paper, research plan after being admitted into the Doctoral course, academic ability in their field and transcripts.

Admission Fees
1. Entrance Fee: JPY 282,000
2. Tuition Fee: JPY 267,900 (First term: 6 months)In the event that the tuition fee is revised while the student is
enrolled at this university, the new tuition fee will be applied from the time of revision.
3. Others: Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research
*Aforementioned entrance and tuition fees apply to the 2024 academic year, the fees for 2025 have not yet
been determined. Applicants will be informed of the finalized amount in their admission procedure

Security Export Control
We have established the Security Export Control Regulations in Kyushu Institute of Technology based on the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act of Japan, and rigorously screen potential international students on the basis of these regulations.
International applicants who fall under any of the conditions set out in said regulations may be unable to enter their desired course or program.
